Clockwork Utopia (pt 1/6)

Title: Clockwork Utopia
Author Name:
Artist Name:
Beta Name:
Word Count: 37,000
Fandom: Original Fiction
Rating: NC17
Main Characters: Wren Laurel, Gina Cowan, Topher Shealy, Jin Fulstorm, pairing Jin/Wren
Genre: Fantasy
Summary: Delmont has gone to the alchemists in the time Wren Laurel had been on assignment up north, and, as she's about to learn, the Alchemy Guild is not satisfied with one city. She has no desire to let the Alchemy Guild render her -- and her guild -- obsolete with its clockwork men. She is fairly certain it's an honest desire, but she no longer controls what she wants.
Warnings: NC17 rating is for body/mind control used to force peoples’ cooperation and to (temporarily) change a character’s sexual preferences so she desires her controller. So, among many other things, a lack of meaningful consent.
Author’s Notes: This evolved out of a trio of short stories written in March 2008 for Stephanie’s Travel Tales contest on the Mind Control Forum. I’ve always wanted to revisit and expand upon them. Much thanks to Stephanie for the original inspiration, to and for serving as alpha readers and cheerleaders, to for the excellent beta (any remaining mistakes are mine), and to for the fabulous art and mix! :D

Seriously, it is fabulous art. Look at this header!

Dear Anonymous

Hello, anonymous folks who comment here.

I have a request. Well, more of a requirement, but this is the first time I've mentioned it outside of comments, so...

I understand that not everyone has an IJ account or has/wants to use an Open ID, etc., so I currently allow anonymous comments. But that doesn't mean I like anonymous interactions. If you are here and want to comment, please sign your comment. I want to know who I'm talking to.

I've been happy to have people here and don't want that to change, so I'm making this and Official Rule in my Pocket Universe.

Thank you,

penny

Three things I really should have learned by now:

#1: The fresh-brewed coffee at work always smells better than it tastes. Always. Without fail. There will never be a pot that is the exception, and I should accept this and stop thinking that every new pot will be the exception.

#2: Email, like dust bunnies, multiplies if the herd is not culled. This is true at work and at home. My packrat tendencies do not help me much with this matter.

#3: People do not get to dictate how they sound to me. Just because I'm twitchy and quick to judge certain tones as patronizing does not mean I have to defer to the speaker's assessment of hir own tone. My experiences are valid, and I am capable of coming to my own conclusions, even if it means stepping back and re-examining things. I should never ignore my twitch. Defense mechanisms exist for a reason.

GI Joe: Resolute

So, the animation's gorgeous. And Scarlett? Yum. And Cobra Commander? HELLO! YES! NOT QUITE SO OVER-THE-TOP at least with respect to the voice acting. He still, um, Cobra Commander. I think he's contractually obligated to be over the top.

I do have to say, overall, this is very well done, certainly better than I expected. The voice acting is top-notch (dude, they have Steve Blum voicing Duke. DUKE!! This is me with my grabby hands!), and the voices are more in line with how I think the Joes would sound if they were real people instead of cheesy 80's cartoon characters. ;-)

It was written by Warren Ellis, who is, apparently, rather well-known in the comics industry. ;-) Here's what he has to say about Resolute. Conceptual Spoilers )

Behind the second cut, a collection of :D and D: moments written as I watched.

Hello, flail-induced spoilers! )

Final tally:
D: = 3.5
:D = 15

Looks like the positives win! Color me pleasantly surprised! If this pops up on DVD, I'll be forced (forced, I tell you!) to add it to my G.I. Joe collection.

Integration

I'm a little late with this, but what's a day? This was going to be an entry into The Worm's Roll of the Dice 2 event (January 2009) on the Mind Control Forum. When it became obvious I wasn't going to finish the story by the deadline, I scrapped a couple of pieces of the prompt, but this story wouldn't exist without that roll of the dice. And this story wouldn't exist without the lovely "Lisa" pictures by xjager513 on deviantART that Sara Castle posted in her playground. Tabico also shares some blame credit, as some of her stories are particularly inspiring.

Quick Summary: Max's first assignment for her new job is just the best thing ever! She doesn't just get to scope out some of the hot new tech at the Pacific Bike Expo, she gets to show it off, and oh, is the latest model of smart bikes hot. Perhaps too hot, and perhaps the bike is a little too smart.

Warnings: Mind control via technological possession, assimilation, techy tentacles, shameless abuse of bikes.

Taken: the short review

So there I was, enjoying seeing Liam Neeson (purr) as ex-spy/preventer/CIA-superman go Protective Daddy (purr) and track down the people who abducted his daughter, and then...
cut for spoilers )
...a movie that could have been fun escapism with a few added bonuses (Famke Janssen as Neeson's ex-wife doesn't get a lot of screen time, but it's nice to see a woman who's actually old enough to be the mother of a 17-year-old playing the mother of a 17-year-old) was ruined.

It's not wine, but...

...Wells Banana Bread Beer just entered my drinking rotation.

Wow. "Drinking roation" kind of makes me sound like a lush.

Anyways, this stuff is good. Dessert-worthy, in fact. It really does smell and taste like banana bread. Oh my.

Wise as Serpents

Wow. It's been a long time since I've posted a story here. This is an old MCF Arena story (from Blue Lyric's January 2007 Dawning of the Age expo) that I've finally gotten around to polishing up a bit. This story is a bit of a departure from my normal mind control MO. Blue's event gave me a chance to play with some of the symbology surrounding the Divine Feminine, and, well, I'm weak to that.

Quick Summary: The serpent bearer visits women who need guidance in their self-discovery. Kerri is her most recent student, and the lesson comes just in time for Kerri to welcome her soldier husband home.

Warnings: Mind control (via possession), shameless abuse of symbology. Those squicked by snakes better skip this one. A serpent bearer just isn't a serpent bearer if she doesn't let the serpents have some fun. (Wow. Can I type "serpents" any more?)

Ha!

I am entirely too tickled that There Will Be Blood premiers on Showtime on Valentine's Day. I now officially Have Plans.

o_O

Freight train cars come with warnings:

WARNING!
Do not apply vibrator to car
Except vibrator brackets
Use only when car is loaded

And because I am a pervert (and because my brain is still waking up after enjoying some nice, perverted dreams), I just spent entirely too long giggling over the idea of non-con train porn. Amtrack/BNSF. You'd think the freight train would be the aggressor, but the passenger train got it drunk.

Send help.

Gym Bunny

This story was inspired by the On Bimbos thread on the Mind Control Forum, and writing it reminded me how niche the erotic mind control genre is. So I'm offering this one up with some brief commentary. (If you want to ignore my babbling, skip down to the second cut to read the story.)

Quick Summary: Depending on perspective, Barbara was in the wrong place at the wrong time, or Kitten was in the right place at the right time. Either way, Kitten gained a new BFF, gym buddy, and friendly competitor for yummy cock!

Warnings: Mind control, body modification, bimbofication. The only on-screen sex is f/f, but there's enough fantasizing and discussion about m/f sex that I'm giving the story the het tag, too.

Throwback

Quick Summary: Troy's not in a position to be picky about his conquests, so when he's given the chance to fix a girl, he takes the opportunity to nudge her towards something his handler would appreciate (and share). He should know better. He really should.

Warnings: Mind control, dubious consent.

Reaction: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

...which will shorthanded to TTGL because I will never remember exactly how to spell the series title. Especially since I am filled with such squee.

Spoilers up to Episode 20 )

The non-spoilery conclusion? Don't let the first 8 episodes fool you (too much). There's a lot more going on here, and most of it appeals to my little power dynamics fascination. And my xenokink.

FMA fic "War Games"

I am waiting for my torrent of Gurren Lagaan to finish downloading (woe! Even with the faster connection, IT IS DRAGGING. I've got less than a gig to go, but 3.5 KB/s makes me cry...and now it just dropped to 1.7). So. In the meantime, I am playing with Kimberly.

This evolved out of a [info]porn_battle prompt from Round 3 (Kimberly/Roy, mindgames). I never got to the actual porn in the prompt, but I finally got there (though technically, if the first listed is supposed to be the top, it's more accurately Roy/Kimberly, mindgames).

Spoilers for the second Liore arc. Warnings for m/m sex, Roy being Roy, and Kimberly being Kimberly.

iTunes is dangerous...

...and my bus ride is long.

I have just mainlined all three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender and am both sad and glad I didn't watch it as it aired on Nick. Sad because it is an awesome show (worth the hype and wide appeal), and it would have been fun lurking on the edges of fandom and occasionally dipping my toes in as the mood struck. Glad, because I am impatient and appreciate getting to watch the entire series on my schedule.

(Oh, Iroh! I am a fangirl.)

Next up on the queue, Gunslinger Girl. It's one of those series people keep recommending to me and that I keep meaning to watch, so now I am.

And eventually, I'll have to finish up with seasons 1 & 2 of The Closer so I can return the DVDs to my friend.

On the game front, FFXII continues to own my fangirling heart! If only I had more time in the evening. (If only I had an actual evening.)
